NEW GLOUCESTER – Downeast Energy and Building Supply recently awarded a grant for $30,000 to Opportunity Farm to help increase academic success for the boys and girls who live there.

“We have a great partnership with Downeast,” said Ron Scott, president of Opportunity Farm. “For the past two years Opportunity Farm has been the beneficiary of the Downeast Golf Classic. This most recent gift builds on the company’s commitment to the kids who are living at Opportunity Farm.”

Opportunity Farm has offered at-risk children from across Maine a safe home and a good education for nearly 100 years and provided the tools that will help the boys and girls who live there get on a path to success. The farm’s academic adviser acts as a school liaison and helps evaluate applicants based on their individual academic needs.
