AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Breakfast Club is halfway through the first year of its Trip-of-the-Month raffle. Six winners have received trips to destinations such as Paris, Myrtle Beach and Walt Disney World.

So far this year, nearly $24,000 has been donated to local organizations such as Advocates for Children, the Auburn Public Library, Auburn Suburban Little League, Boys and Girls Club of Lewiston-Auburn, Boy Scouts, Camp Susan Curtis, Good Shepherd Food-Bank, Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Museum L/A, Project SEARCH, St. Martin de Porres, Sexual Assault Crisis Center, Tri-County Mental Health, Trinity Jubilee Center and Volunteers of America.

In addition, the club supports international programs, including Polio Plus, Rotary International’s ongoing commitment to ending polio worldwide, and Theo’s Work, a school and orphanage in Haiti founded by a Lewiston native the Rev. Marc Boisvert. Tickets for the 2006 Trip-of-the-Month Club will be available in September.

Rotary International is a nonprofit service organization with approximately 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries.

The Auburn-Lewiston club provides grants to local and international charities with funds raised through the Trip-of-the-Month raffle, the annual golf tournament in June and the Great Duck Race in August.
