Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Brian M. Smith, son of Wanda E. and Clifton S. Smith of Lewiston, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving at the Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown, Va.

Smith was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty.

He is a 1982 graduate of Lewiston High School and joined the Coast Guard in August 1982.
