FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) – The New England Patriots on Monday signed free agent safety Antuan Edwards, a six-year NFL veteran who split time between the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams last season.

Edwards, who is entering his seventh NFL season, made a career-high 65 tackles in 13 starts last season.

A first-round draft pick of the Packers in 1999, Edwards played in Green Bay for five seasons before he signed with Miami before the 2004 season.

Edwards has started 31 of 68 games in his career, both at strong safety and free safety.
