LEWISTON – Boy Scouts will be out from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Shaw’s supermarket and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Auburn Shaw’s, collecting donations for the Red Cross Chapter disaster relief fund.

The collaborative effort is part of the Scouts’ Good Turn for America initiative and the Red Cross Day of Disaster Campaign.

In an effort to increase community participation in serving others, the Boy Scouts of America has introduced Good Turn for America. Nationally, partnerships include the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity.

Last fiscal year, the local Red Cross spent $126,311 providing disaster services throughout southern Kennebec, Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties.
