LEWISTON – The Lewiston Hannaford Supermarket presented a $2,000 gift to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Journey of Hope Campaign for the new hospice house.

“As a company, Hannaford prides itself on being a good neighbor,” said Labbe. “We like to recognize and reward the organizations and institutions that contribute to making this community the fine place it is to live and work.”

The 14-patient suite facility is specially designed to care for the needs of patients in the final weeks of life when hospice care at home is no longer possible.

AHCH will welcome the first hospice house patient this fall. To date, the Journey of Hope Campaign has received support from more than 1,400 individuals, foundations, businesses and civic and fraternal groups.

In 2000, AHCH partnered with Hannaford Supermarkets to launch the Volunteer Grocery Shopping Program. Today the Volunteer Grocery Program is available to AHCH patients throughout Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties, with six Hannaford stores participating.
