FARMINGTON – The River City Salon Orchestra, with members and friends of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, will appear in celebration of Kingfield POPS at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in Nordica Auditorium, University of Maine at Farmington.

The concert will feature light classical music, waltzes, standards and songs from old Broadway. Maestro Xiao-Lu Li and his family will be in attendance.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for youth 17 and under and can be reserved by calling the Bangor Symphony Orchestra box office at 942-5555/800-639-3221 or purchased at Mickey’s Hallmark, Farmington, or Tranten’s Store, Kingfield.

The Farmington concert kicks off the third annual Kingfield POPS with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra to be held Saturday, July 2. Kingfield POPS begins at 7:30 p.m. and gates open at 5.

Daniel Woodward of Farmington will sing “America the Beautiful” with the Bangor Symphony during Kingfield POPS. Woodward is the choir director at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. He has appeared frequently as a soloist with the University of Maine at Farmington Community Chorus and UMF Chamber Choir and on stage in Sandy River Players productions. Woodward is a member of Northfield, an eight-member a cappella group specializing in Renaissance and Early American music.

Opening for the BSO at Kingfield POPS will be Native Oak, a three-piece Farmington area band specializing in songs of the 1950s to the 1980s that include rock, jazz, bluegrass, country, folk, a cappella and instrumentals, as well as original works.

Kingfield POPS with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra will present an evening of familiar and patriotic music. In keeping with the holiday celebration, the evening will close with a fireworks display, the first of three nights of fireworks shows to be held in the region.
