LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education still has openings in courses offered this summer. Registration is under way and the summer session will begin on Monday, June 20.

Academic courses offered include Algebra II, which will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Contemporary Fiction will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.

Three college prep classes are offered for adults planning to return to college. Math Refresher will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. starting Wednesday, June 22. English Refresher will begin Monday, June 20, and run from 6 to 8 p.m.

An English language class will be offered for learners who have English as a second language and who are preparing to go to college. Students should have a good basic knowledge of English but need to improve language skills prior to attending college. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Tuesday, June 21.

A Painting in Any Medium class will be offered from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. June 22 to July 27. Students will study painting and explore different media. Students will be able to work in oil, watercolor or pastel. All levels of ability are welcome.

Beginners will start by learning basic painting techniques and more experienced painters will be able to expand their knowledge and expertise. Students work from photographs or still life.

Several computer classes will be offered. Computers for Complete Beginners will be held June 22 to July 27. The class will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. The course will start with the basics of computing and is intended for individuals with no computer experience. Students will learn how to use the computer to write letters, prepare documents, how to search the Internet and use e-mail.

Keyboarding I will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. June 20 to Aug. 8. Participants will learn the correct techniques and build speed and accuracy.

A Cultivating Computer Safety Series will be offered this summer. The series will meet for six sessions. Sign up for one or all six. The series is designed to help computer users avoid common computing problems such as using virus scan software, using Windows utilities, finding alternative browsers, using firewalls, privacy settings and how to protect the computer and the family. Each class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting July 6.

GED testing will be available on an appointment only basis on Mondays from 2:30 to 6 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A GED prep class will meet on Tuesdays starting June 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Accommodations in testing are available for adults with documented physical disabilities as well as learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and emotional or psychological disabilities. Students must be at least 18 years old to begin GED testing. For more information, contact the Adult Education office at 353-3037.
