RANGELEY – The Rangeley Lakes Association will host its annual barbecue for the sixth year from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, and all are invited to attend.

For the first time, the barbecue will be held at the Rangeley Guides and Sportmen’s Club in Oquossoc.

Located at the end of the Old Skiway Road, the club features a trout pond, outdoor picnic tables and inside accommodations in the event of rain.

This year the barbecue will be catered by Dave Borman. A local favorite with a loyal following,

Borman has catered fund-raising breakfasts and barbecues for many of the local nonprofits.

The menu will include barbecued chicken, roasted potatoes or potato salad, homemade baked beans, coleslaw, watermelon and hot dogs for kids under 12. Coffee, lemonade and baked goodies prepared by local volunteers will round out the meal.

The event is an opportunity to bring folks together in a common effort to protect the lakes and ponds through education and community action.

Following the meal, there will be a brief business meeting, and all are welcome to attend to learn more about the association and what it is doing to protect the lakes and ponds in the Rangeley region. Educational materials will be available as well as a selection of T-shirts.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and younger.

To help the association get an accurate head count, people should call Sandi at 864-2775 or Rebecca at 864-7311, ext. 5, in advance to reserve a space.
