LEWISTON – Lewiston/Auburn Kiwanis Club has joined the Salvation Army in providing a camp scholarship.

Each summer 40 area children between the ages of 6 and 13 spend a week at the Salvation Army “Camp Sebago,” Route 114, Sebago.

Scholarships are provided to those unable to pay the $335 registration fee, which provides for seven nights and three meals a day as well as transportation to and from the camp.

Funds for the scholarships are totally dependent on community support through civic groups such as the Kiwanis Club, private donors and an annual camp mailing.

In order to continue providing scholarships to the children who do not qualify for camp funding, the Salvation Army needs to raise money locally. Those wishing can send a contribution marked Camp Scholarship Fund to the Salvation Army, Box 178, Lewiston, ME 04243-0178.
