Three Maine high school racewalkers finished 2nd through 4th place this past weekend at the Nike Outdoor Championships held at North Carolina A&T University.
First place was won handily by Mike Kazmierczak, a graduating senior from Plainview, N.Y., in a time of 7:27.81, followed by Padric Gleason from Dresden (Hall-Dale class of 2006) in 8:06.64. Third and fourth places went to Aaron Carroll, a freshman at Gardiner (8:54.77) and Taylor Burns, a sophomore at Scarborough (9:03.44).
The race conditions were hot and humid, which slowed the competitors.
