NORTH YARMOUTH – The following students from Pownal, Lewiston, Auburn, Lisbon, Bowdoinham, Durham and Greene were recognized at North Yarmouth Academy’s Awards Day:

Alex Briggs, freshman from Pownal, received the Dr. Howard Rollin Ives Prize, given to the ninth-grade boy who shows exceptional achievement and has made outstanding contributions to the school, while exemplifying qualities of honesty, responsibility and perseverance. He also won eighth place in the State Spanish 1 Foreign Language Exam.

Katherine J. Briggs of Pownal received the 12th-grade Payson-Bird Prize for excellence in composition. She will attend Dartmouth College.

Maxwell Cole, a senior from Lewiston, won the Headmaster’s Award. He will attend Franklin and Marshall College in the fall.

Victor Churchill, an eighth-grader from Auburn, won Gold Summa Cum Laude for the Latin National Language Exam.

Dan Dearing, an 11th-grader from Lisbon, won eighth place in state for the Spanish 1 National Foreign Language Exam.

Harry Hanson, an 11th-grader from Bowdoinham, won sixth in state for the Spanish 3 National Foreign Language Exam.

Jenna Lane, a ninth-grader from Durham, won seventh in state for the French 1 National Foreign Language Exam.

Amy Miller, a ninth-grader from Auburn, won Gold Summa Cum Laude in the Latin 1 National Foreign Language Exam. She also won a Special Honor for Perfect Score.

Sam O’Brien, a ninth-grader from Pownal, won fifth in state for the French 1 National Foreign Language Exam.

Julie Quattrocchi, a 10th-grader from Greene, won Magna Cum Laude for the Latin 1 National Foreign Language Exam.

Danica Rogers, an 11th-grader from Pownal, took ninth in state for the Spanish 3 National Foreign Language Exam.
