AUBURN – Hannah Giasson was named the fourth annual recipient of the Larry Marczak Memorial Scholarship at Edward Little Class Night on June 1. The award was announced by Virginia Marczak. Giasson was presented a $2,000 check.

A graduate of the class of 2005, Giasson will attend Bates College in the fall. Giasson was chosen from applicants who were asked to provide a list of activities and achievements as well as recommendation letters.

Applicants were also asked to write an essay explaining how they had made a difference in someone’s life or in the community during the high school years.

Marczak was a science teacher in the Auburn school system for more than 30 years. The scholarship was established to honor his commitment to education and higher education.

The scholarship board consists of teachers, who worked with Marczak, as well as members of the family.

Applicants should be graduating seniors from Edward Little, pursuing a post secondary degree. The scholarship is intended to be given annually and is supported by private donations.
