HARRISON – The historic Deertrees Theatre will open for the summer season with a “Homecoming Concert” featuring Anni Clark and some of her friends at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30. A pre-performance picnic will begin at 6 on the theater’s grounds.

Poetic lyricism and warm soprano vocals, combined with a whimsical sense of Maine humor, have established Clark in coffeehouses, colleges, major theaters and festivals around the country.

From Maine to Texas, she has shared stages with Shawn Colvin, Richie Havens, Patty Larkin, Leo Kottke and Cheryl Wheeler.

The Maine native has been a two-time finalist in the well-known New Folk Songwriters’ Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas and was invited to be one of three judges in this event. She wrote and performed all the music for Virginia Plummer’s independently released short film “Checking Out.” In 2003, Jam Music Magazine chose Clark as both “Female Artist of the Year” and “Folk Artist of the Year” in its annual Reader’s Pix Awards.

Clark is a member of Under the Song Tree, along with Maine songwriters Dan Merrill and Lynn Deeves. She recently collaborated with other Maine artists to produce showcases called “Maine Meets Nashville” and “Maine Meets Boston.”

Tickets, which are $12, are available at the Cool Moose in Bridgton, The Country Sleigh in Naples, Fare Share Co-Op in Norway, Books & Things in Bethel and at the theater. For reservations, people can call the box office, (207) 583-6747
