MEXICO – Following a closed session on Tuesday, the Region 9 School of Applied Technology board approved administrative salary raises for the director and adult education director.
It also hired a replacement for Sally Arsenault, the allied health instructor, who left at the end of this school year for a nursing position at Rumford Hospital.
Director David Driscoll said his salary was raised to $74,000. That contract ends June 30, 2006.
Nancy Murphy, the adult education director, also received an increase to just under $45,000 during the second year of her two-year contract.
The board also approved hiring Wendy Hebert, a supervising nurse at Rumford Hospital, to teach certified nursing assistant classes.
In other matters, Driscoll said the regional school district’s member boards are beginning to act on a new cooperative agreement. Because of the change in population in the 2000 census, the votes of SAD 21 and SAD 44’s Region 9 board members will be weighted slightly higher, and SAD 43’s will be weighted slightly lower. SAD 43 has four seats, and SAD 21 and SAD 44 each have two seats on the cooperative board. The remaining seats, holding less voting weight, are assigned to the unaffiliated towns of Hanover, Upton and Gilead.
The board also entered into an agreement with SAD 43 to provide hot lunch service for Region 9 students and staff during the 2005-2006 school year.
