STRONG – Vincent Barden and Oleta Bolens were recently named Employees of the Month at Strong Nursing Home.

He has worked at the facility as maintenance supervisor since September 1987. Barden works every day to keep the facility clean, safe and properly maintained.

He also makes items the residents need, fixes almost anything and does so with a smile. Barden often helps out with resident transportation. If there is any way for him to help a resident, he will be there, said staff.

Barden lives in Strong minutes away from the facility. Because he is so close, he is sometimes called in on off time to fix something. Barden has a daughter. Melisa and spends as much time as possible with her.

Oleta Bolens is recognized for her willingness to help out in any way, which includes doing extra bus runs and doctor’s appointments, covering the floor, assisting with positioning and personal care and doing extra paperwork. Staff said she is a team player and a great member of the Strong Nursing Home team.

Bolens’ title is developmental training coordinator, which involves working with the direct care staff to run programs with the residents to help them learn independence. It also involves helping staff teach residents alternative ways to communicate.

Other responsibilities include assisting the program director write the programs and educate the staff on how to run the programs.

Bolens resides in Strong with her companion, Al. She has two adult sons who live in Strong. She has a granddaughter and is expecting a second grandchild in July. Her hobbies include gardening, crafts and outdoor activities.
