GREENE – Traffic between Turner and Greene is being detoured from the Center Bridge Road to Route 219 while crews work on the bridge this weekend.
The bridge closed Friday and is scheduled to be open by 6 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured several miles north to Route 219 between Turner and Leeds.
Crews are replacing a deteriorated concrete abutment on the Greene side of the bridge, along North River Road. Bridge Manager Mike Eldridge of the Maine Department of Transportation said the road is too narrow to let crews keep any lanes open.
The state is putting up three electronic message boards around the site to direct traffic around the project.
