NORWAY – A show of paintings by Duncan Slade titled “New Work: Finding the Extraordinary in the Ordinary” will be on view during July at the Norway Memorial Library.

An opening reception and talk by the artist is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 30. The public is welcome to attend and/or view the exhibit anytime during the library’s open hours.

Slade is a well known figure on Main Street with a storefront studio at 227 Main St. He said, “After 22 years of applying oil paint to over 300 rectangles of canvas I am an 98-year-old man, still playing my role as an artist … mostly painting people in their downtown habitat, pedestrians, cars, etc. with occasional sorties into nature, ocean, waterways of all kinds. This spring I became intrigued with emerging buds on nearby trees – up close; the visible life force, energy … and recorded it on film and canvas.”
