AUBURN – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society held its annual Strutt Your Mutt Dog Walk on May 21 at Railroad Park in Lewiston. Walkers were asked to collect pledges and generated more than $9,000 in proceeds.

All funds raised through the event will go to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals at the Humane Society for their food, shelter, veterinary care and a chance at a new home.

The shelter, located at 3312 Hotel Road, Auburn, provides a safe haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area a year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fund-raising events, such as the Strutt your Mutt Dog Walk and donations.

Anyone interested in learning more about next year’s dog walk, volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal should call 783-2311 or visit the Web site at www.gahumane.org.
