PORTLAND (AP) – Jared Sandberg hit a grand slam to lift the Portland Sea Dogs over the Norwich Navigators 7-4 in the Eastern League Friday.

Portland (41-35) jumped ahead 4-0 in the first, when Hanley Ramirez and Kenny Perez singled and Brandon Moss walked to load the bases for Sandberg’s blow.

Norwich (36-43) got one in the second inning on Fred Lewis’ triple and an RBI single by A.J. LaBarbera.

The Sea Dogs made it 6-1 in their half, as David Murphy doubled and later scored on a Ramirez grounder, then Perez singled and was plated by a Moss double.

With Portland up 7-1, the Navigators tallied three in the fifth, keyed by Jamie Athas’ two-run base hit.

Sea Dogs’ starter David Pauley (4-3) pitched seven innings, allowing four runs while Norwich’s Brian Burres (5-3) gave up seven runs in his three frames.

Manny Delcarmen pitched two perfect innings for his third save.
