DENVER (AP) – Rookie Oscar Robles capped his five-hit night with a go-ahead RBI single in the 11th inning Monday, lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Robles, a rookie the Dodgers brought to the team from the Mexican League earlier this season, went 5-for-6 and also had a tying single in the seventh.

His hit in the 11th scored Jason Grabowski, who had a leadoff single off Jay Witasick (0-4) and advanced into scoring position after a bunt by Jason Repko.

Yhency Brazoban pitched the bottom of the 11th for his 16th save. Giovanni Carrara (6-2) shut out the Rockies for two innings to get the win.

Called up to replace injured J.D. Drew, Chin-Feng Chen had his first major league hit and RBIs with a two-run single in the seventh to cut the Los Angeles deficit to 3-2. Robles came up next and tied it with an RBI single off Bobby Seay.

Before that, Desi Relaford scored on a double steal, Aaron Miles had an RBI and Preston Wilson drove in another run with his first triple of the season to help the Rockies to a 3-0 lead.

Colorado starter Byung-Hyun Kim, whose job is in jeopardy because of the pending return of starter Shawn Chacon, allowed no runs and five hits over six innings. He lowered his ERA to 4.29 as a starter this season, which is lower than everyone in the Colorado rotation besides Chacon.

Kim went up against a depleted Los Angeles lineup, which added Drew to the injured list Monday with a broken wrist. Drew was hit by Arizona’s Brad Halsey on Sunday and is awaiting word as to whether he’ll need season-ending surgery.

Kim plunked the third batter he faced, Jeff Kent, and Kent – possibly mindful of Drew’s recent misfortune – stepped toward the mound, causing the benches and bullpens to clear. No punches were thrown and the game settled into a pitcher’s duel.

Dodgers starter Jeff Weaver allowed just five hits over six innings and got out of a number of jams. Wilson’s RBI triple came with no out in the fourth and Weaver didn’t let him score. In the fifth, the Rockies had the bases loaded with one out, but Weaver struck out Wilson and got Garrett Atkins to pop out to end the inning.

Relaford’s run in the sixth put the Rockies ahead 3-0. It was originally ruled a stolen base, but was later changed and ruled a fielder’s choice because the other runner, Eddy Garabito, was thrown out at second after Relaford scored.

Kim had six strikeouts and bolstered his case to stay in the rotation, which is where he says he feels more comfortable. Just a few weeks ago, manager Clint Hurdle had called him in to tell him he would be released, not sent back to the bullpen, but moments afterward, Chacon got hurt and Kim got his reprieve.

With Chacon about to return, Kim is on the bubble again, although Joe Kennedy’s start for Wednesday has been pushed back and Kennedy has been the subject of trade talks.

Notes: Kim leads the majors with 11 hit batters. … Umpires warned both benches after Kim hit Kent and the Dodgers hit three batters, but home plate umpire Doug Eddings didn’t eject any of the Los Angeles pitchers.
