LEWISTON – Each week several hundreds of dollars worth of clothing is donated to Classy Lady from women in the Lewiston Auburn communities. And because Classy Lady is a nonprofit service, they depend upon volunteers to keep the business running.

Classy Lady is searching for additional volunteers to help out at the retail store and sort though donations. Classy Lady volunteer Carol Johnson said, “I enjoy volunteering at Classy Lady. I work a couple of hours every Saturday sorting through donations that came in during the week. Not only am I contributing my time to a great organization, but I also get to see all of the merchandise before it hits the floor.”

Classy Lady has volunteering opportunities in several areas. They are looking for people to serve on committees, including retail, organizing in-store promotions and pricing merchandise; mentoring, organizing new mentoring programs and following up on past mentoring appointments; staffing, forming contacts with organizations to find more volunteers; publicity, writing press releases and do advertising for events; finance, review budget periodically and write grants; and donations, sorting through donations as they arrive.

Classy Lady serves to help women entering the workforce, or moving forward in the workforce, gain the necessary skills and confidence to obtain the next step in their employment goals.

In addition, they provide image consultation, as well as the sale of gently used business attire. Women throughout the Lewiston-Auburn communities have donated all the clothing at Classy Lady.

Staff asks that people drop donations off during regular business hours, from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Call ahead for large donations so volunteers are available to assist. People are asked not to leave clothing outside in bags and boxes.
