LEWISTON – At noon on Friday, July 8, the Lewiston Field Canvass office of the Maine People’s Alliance will hold a press conference at 278 Lisbon St. to discuss privatizing Social Security. The alliance will discuss a new report published by the Institute For America’s Future that explains why the large elderly population of Maine’s rural communities would disproportionately suffer from the president’s plan to privatize Social Security.

Canvassers will present the report’s findings. They will also outline strategies to incorporate the report’s information into their outreach program. This program is run by a crew of young activists who are knocking on doors throughout central Maine. Members of the crew will share their experiences from the field and highlight the significance of this report.
