TURNER – The Androscoggin Land Trust annual Source to the Sea Trek cookout will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Center Bridge. This event is free and open to the public. Persons should call 225-5705 or e-mail info@androscogginlandtrust.org in advance to sign up.

The Androscoggin Land Trust is a private, nonprofit membership-driven organization dedicated to protecting, through land conservation and stewardship, the traditional landscapes, natural areas and outdoor experience in and adjacent to Androscoggin County.

Seniors barbecue

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Hasty Community Center. The luncheon will be a chicken barbecue and members should bring their utensils. Tickets will be on sale for the Tot-Lot barbecue to be held in August and bingo will be played after lunch.

The club met July 6. The board meeting was at 10 a.m. and the general meeting followed at 11. Membership Chairwoman Pat Edwards introduced new members Madge Gardner, Eugenia Dixon, Shirley Thiriet, Sedonia Pomerleau, Robert Adkins, Irene Fraser, Lucien Marcoux and Sylvia Thibodeau.

There will be a luncheon at Julien’s in Gray at noon Wednesday, Aug. 31. Members may sign up at the next meeting. Attendance winners were Guy Donohue and Phyllis Latlippe; pot of gold, Joanne Cyr, Guy Donohue and Roy Tassinari. Bingo was played after lunch.

Psalms workshop

LEWISTON – A workshop, “Writing Psalms as a Means of Personal Prayer Retreat,” will be sponsored by the Dominican Third Order from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the St. Martin de Porres Residence, 23 Bartlett St.

The goal of the workshop and retreat day will be twofold: to introduce participants to the background, history, form and structure of the psalms and to provide them with the knowledge, tools and the opportunity to begin to write psalms to use as personal prayer.

Camp lunch

AUBURN – Modern Woodmen of America Camp 8794 will have a luncheon and go golfing from 11 a.m. to close Wednesday, July 27, at Roy’s Hamburger and Miniature Golf, Center Street. Modern Woodmen members and their families are invited.

A drawing will be held for a family door prize. Those interested may purchase tickets at Modern Woodmen of America, 67 Minot Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on July 12 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, David Lock and Fred Letourneau; tied at third, Doug and Betty Sise with Roger Briggs and Nancy Farmer; fifth, Leslie Buzzell and Nancy Lindgren.

Flight B winners: tied at first, Doug and Betty Sise with Roger Briggs and Nancy Farmer. Flight C winners were: first, Doug and Betty Sise; second, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird.

Another game will be held at 9a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Multi-Purpose Center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on July 13 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Fred Letourneau and Sharon Hinckley; tied at second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner with Tom Dahlberg and David Wallace; tied at fourth, Luke Merry and Paul Barber with Mike and Pat Quinn. Flight B winners were Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Another game will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Schooner Estates.
