PORTLAND (AP) – Brad Snyder went 3 for 4 with a homer and double and Dan Denham didn’t allow an earned run over eight innings as the Akron Aeros defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 5-2 Sunday in the Eastern League.

Franklin Gutierrez also homered and the Aeros (52-41) capitalized on two costly Portland errors. The teams were tied 1-1 after one inning. After Akron scored on Gutierrez’s leadoff homer, Portland (48-43) answered when Chris Durbin doubled and scored in the bottom of the first. Snyder led off the fourth with a homer, then Ryan Mulhern walked, advanced on a walk and scored on an error.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Sea Dogs scored one run on Brandon Moss’ sacrifice fly.

Synder doubled and scored in the fifth, then Akron made it 5-2 on two singles and an error.

Denham (8-6) struck out seven, walked one and scattered three hits.
