ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Yankees outfielder Ruben Sierra was put on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left hamstring injury sustained on a go-ahead hit the night before.

Sierra injured his left hamstring while running to first base on his two-run single in the eighth inning Monday night that gave the Yankees a wild 11-10 victory over the Texas Rangers.

While Sierra said he felt better Tuesday, the Yankees put him on the DL for the second time this season. Infielder Andy Phillips was recalled from Triple-A Columbus.

“I feel much better. So let’s see how quick I can come back,” Sierra said before the Yankees announced the move.

Sierra missed 24 games after going on the disabled list in April for a partial tear in the biceps muscle in his right arm.

The Yankees also activated right-hander Felix Rodriguez from the disabled list and sent left-hander Darrell May outright to Columbus.
