MINOT – Road Manager Arlan Saunders told selectmen this week that the water line for the Minot Consolidated School has been brought inside the town garage and is ready to be purged, cleaned and connected to the well.
Speaking on the need to relocate the leach field for the septic system that serves the Town Office/garage/fire station complex, Saunders alerted selectmen to the possibility that the move might be more complicated than originally believed.
“We may have a bit of an issue where it is filled land we might be looking at,” said Saunders.
Because the well at the town garage is now to be used as a public water source, the leach field has to be at least 300 feet from the well. While the location Saunders is considering for the new leach field meets the 300-foot limit, it is a filled land.
Saunders said he would be meeting with a soil scientist later this week to see about a design for the new leach field.
Saunders also reported that he had received a letter from Federal Emergency Management Agency that the payment for the snowstorm in February has been approved at $10,500, bringing the total reimbursement the town received for three major snowstorms to $26,000.
