Dear Sun Spots: I am searching for vendors for our Buckfield Community Day celebration which is held on Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day). If you or anyone you know who might be interested, please call Rossie at: 336-2081 and leave a message, or e-mail at [email protected]. – Rossie Kyllonen, Buckfield.
Dear Sun Spots: I was saddened by the closure of Austin’s Fine Wines and Foods. I have yet to find a deli that offers such quality products. I particularly enjoyed Austin’s pasta salad and miss having it very much. I was wondering if the former owner would mind sharing his recipe with me. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: Unfortunately, the only listing Sun Spots could find for Austin was unsuccessful. Perhaps there are other readers out there familiar with this recipe who might be willing to share them with this reader. In the meantime, perhaps you might enjoy the following recipe for low-fat chile pasta salad. Ingredients: 4 ounces bow tie pasta; ½ cup nonfat plain yogurt; 1 tablespoon Dijon-style prepared mustard; ½ teaspoon salt; 1 green jalapeno chile pepper, chopped; 4 medium tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped; 2 scallions, sliced; and 1 clove garlic, crushed. Method: Cook pasta and drain. Rinse with cold water; drain. Mix pasta with yogurt, mustard, salt, jalapeno chile, tomatoes, onion and garlic. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled.

Dear Sun Spots: For the person who came to my garage sale on Ellis Street and purchased a white electric can opener. The magnet that holds the lid was dropped but has since been found. If the person would please call me at (207) 783-1125, I’d be happy to ensure you get it. Thanks. – No Name, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: Please give me information on a company, contractor or someone who does masonry foundation restoration. Also, The Small Engines repair shop has apparently closed. I cannot find another. Do you have any advice? I’m sure I’m not the only one with this seasonal problem. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, regarding your first question: Sun Spots would recommend you check the Yellow Pages for a listing or check with some of your neighbors for a recommendation. In addition to responses from readers, you may want to note from the June 29 column: The Shop, a small engine repair shop, formerly located at 1930 Lisbon Road has closed because the owner was deployed to Afghanistan. He will reopen once his tour of duty is over.
