NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) – Anibal Sanchez took a two-hitter into the seventh inning and Jared Sandberg drove in two runs as the Portland Sea Dogs beat New Britain 4-2 Thursday and snapped the Rock Cats nine-game winning streak.

Sanchez (2-1) had a shutout until the seventh inning, when he yielded consecutive singles and then balked, allowing a run to score. He allowed one run on four hits, walked none and struck out three. Jim Mann pitched the ninth to earn his first save.

Hanley Ramirez had two hits and scored two runs for Portland (52-48). Scott Youngbauer and David Murphy had RBI triples.

Matt Moses had a double for New Britain’s lone extra-base hit. Rock Cat’s starter Nick Blackburn (1-2) took the loss.

Doug Deeds failed to get an RBI for New Britain, snapping a team-record eight-game streak in which he had knocked in at least one run.

A win would have given the Rock Cats (49-55) three straight series sweeps for the first time in their history.
