DENVER (AP) – Pinch-hitter Tomas Perez drove in the tiebreaking run with a two-out infield single in the ninth inning, and Chase Utley homered and had a career-high five RBIs to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5 Thursday night.

Utley went 3-for-5 with his career-best 15th home run and Kenny Lofton scored two runs and drove in two for Phillies, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Ugueth Urbina (1-0) worked the eighth inning and Billy Wagner pitched the ninth for his 22nd save in 24 chances.

David Bell doubled to left leading off the ninth against Mike DeJean (4-2), and moved to third on Ramon Martinez’s sacrifice bunt. After Jimmy Rollins was walked intentionally, Perez hit the ball in the hole between first and second but second baseman Aaron Miles couldn’t throw him out.

Utley followed with two-run double to right field off Dustin Mohr.

Trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning, Philadelphia took the lead with four runs against Byung-Hyun Kim. David Bell walked and, one out later, advanced to second on a wild pitch. Rollins extended the inning by beating out an infield hit with two outs, and moved to second a wild pitch. Lofton followed with a two-run single to center, and Utley hit a towering home run to left off Byung-Hyun Kim.

Phillies starter Robinson Tejeda left the game with one out in the sixth after walking Aaron Miles and giving up a single to Matt Holliday, who was thrown out at second trying to stretch the hit into a double. Garrett Atkins drove in Miles with a grounder off reliever Geoff Geary to make it 5-3.

Luis Gonzalez hit a solo home run off Rheal Cormier in the seventh inning to get Colorado within 5-4.

Colorado tied it at 5 in the eighth inning against Urbina. Atkins and Eric Byrnes singled with one out and pinch-hitter Jorge Piedra’s single to right scored Atkins.

The Phillies took a 1-0 in the first inning when Holliday misplayed Utley’s line drive into an RBI double in the first and scored Lofton who had drawn a one-out walk.

Colorado tied it at 1 on Kim’s sacrifice fly to center in the third, and went ahead on Byrnes’ RBI double off the wall in left in the fourth.
