HARRISON – As a part of this year’s “Back to the Past” event at Scribner’s Mill and in celebration of Harrison’s bicentennial, tours of early Harrison barns with barnwright Scott Hatch will be offered Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6 and 7.

The tours will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Scribner’s Mill and will include an in-depth inspection of four area barns. Participants will learn the history of early Maine barns, the difference between the English and French styles and the merging of the two.

Structural assessments and repair options will be discussed.

Those wishing to participate in both tours will visit eight barns. The fee for the each tour is $35.

Participants will return to Scribner’s Mill for lunch, then continue the tour in the afternoon.
