PORTLAND (AP) – David Murphy hit a two-run homer and Jeremy West added a homer and two RBIs as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the New Britain Rock Cats 4-2 Monday in the Eastern League.

Jon Lester pitched his first complete game, striking out six, walking three and allowing two earned runs to improve his club record to 8-4.

After West’s homer gave the Sea Dogs (56-48) a 1-0 lead in the second inning, J.R. Taylor doubled and scored to tie it in the third.

Portland took a 3-1 lead when Murphy homered with a runner aboard in the fourth.

Matt Moses’ RBI single was they key hit as the Rock Cats (51-57) added a run in the top of the sixth, but the Sea Dogs answered when Sheldon Fulse doubled and scored in the bottom of the inning.
