RUMFORD – Five students from the Region 9 Certified Nursing Assistant program traveled to Nashville for a Health Occupation Students of America Leadership Conference on June 21.

The students had earned the right to attend the five-day conference and competitive events by placing in statewide competition.

Kasey Davis and Desiree Murphy, Mountain Valley High School, placed first in a “Health Career Display” event for the state and competed at the national level. Coral Buck and Ashley Gould, Telstar Regional High School, placed first at the state competition and made it into the second round of competition at the national level (top 30 of approximately 75 teams). Elizabeth Lane, Mountain Valley High School, placed second at the state level, made it into the second round of competition at the national level (top 20 of approximately 75 competitors), and made it into the top 10 finalists in the national competition. Instructor is Sally Arsenault.

The students spent five nights at the Gaylord Opryland Resort. They participated in educational symposiums and toured Nashville.
