TEMPLE – W.A. Mitchell Fine Furniture of Temple has made a gift of Maine-made hardwood furniture to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice hospice house in Auburn. The handcrafted furniture will be featured throughout the facility, including in the dining, living, conference and media rooms, sanctuary, children’s play area, quiet rooms and in each patient suite.

“We are humbled by this very generous gift. It is especially meaningful because it is handcrafted right here in western Maine,” said Paul Soucie, agency board chairman.

Soucie continued, “From the beginning, the goal was to design the hospice house to have a home-like look and feel. Having handcrafted furniture from W.A. Mitchell throughout the facility will certainly make that happen.”

The hospice house, located on Stetson Road in Auburn, is specially designed to care for patients in the weeks of life when hospice care at home is no longer possible. AHCH will welcome the first hospice house patient Nov. 1.

“W.A. Mitchell is pleased to be asked to participate in this hospice facility,” said Dan Maxham, president. “Androscoggin’s commitment to quality care and service mirrors our commitment to quality furniture and service.”

W.A. Mitchell was founded in 1988 by Arthur Mitchell in Temple, where production continues. A second production facility is planned for Farmington, where warehouses and offices have been established.

W.A. Mitchell is noted for its handcrafted solid wood furniture and is one of the few remaining U.S. based manufacturers whose furniture comes with a lifetime warranty. W. A. Mitchell furniture can be obtained from mid-to upper-end furniture retailers, galleries and kitchen and bath centers coast to coast in the United States and select dealers in England.
