MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library announces August story and craft hours as follows:
Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m., children ages 2 to 5 will read stories, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle, “Tops and Bottoms” adapted by Janet Stevens and “Pignic” by Anne Miranda
At 1 p.m. children ages 6 to 11 are invited to attend an American Girl Tea Party and will meet Molly, an American Girl, and travel back to 1944 with her. There will be snacks, games and crafts from Molly’s time period. Parents should RSVP by Friday, Aug. 5.
Tuesday, Aug. 16, there will be a “Wild Things” Costume Party at 10 a.m. at the Calvin Lyons Hall. The party will conclude the “Rock & Roll: Go Where the Wild Things Are” summer reading program. All kids, ages 2 and up, are invited to attend dressed in any type of “Wild Thing” costume.
Activities will include costume judging and prizes, games, contests and play-acting. Certificates and prizes for summer reading will be given and a pizza and soda lunch will be served.
Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m., Story Hour groups will combine and children ages 2 to 12 will read the following back-to-school stories: “Little Bunny’s Preschool Countdown” by Maribeth Boelts, “Arthur’s Back-to-School Surprise” by Marc Brown, “School Picture Day” by Lynn Plourde, “David Goes to School” by David Shannon and “Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten” by Joseph Slate.
Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. Preschool Story Time will read the following stories: “It’s the Bear” by Jez Alborough, “Silly Sallly” by Audrey Wood and “Punk Farm” by Jarrett J. Krosoczka.
