PORTLAND (AP) – Anibal Sanchez (3-1) scattered three hits over seven shutout innings, walking none while striking out seven Tuesday, to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to a 2-0 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats.

Portland (57-48) scored both runs in the third inning, when Sheldon Fulse drew a walk and after Hanley Ramirez’ flyout, stole second. Scott Youngbauer then walked and Brandon Moss singled, driving in Fulse and sending Youngbauer to third.

David Murphy followed with a hit, scoring Youngbauer.

Rock Cats’ starter Nick Blackburn (1-3) threw eight innings, allowing six hits and two runs, walking two and striking out four. James Tomlin had two of New Britain’s (51-58) hits.

Edgar Martinez pitched a scoreless eight and Jimmy Mann the ninth inning to record his fourth save.
