Seniors to meet
AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Alden M.Gayton Post 31, Washington Street. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. There will be the usual raffle table.
Fifty-eight members were present at the July 27 meeting led by President Dorothy Larrabee. Dora Dick of Florida was welcomed as a guest, and Anita Plourde and Shirley Huntley were welcomed back after illnesses.
Those having birthdays in July were recognized. Attendance prize winners were Frances Wentworth and Nelson Edwards; pot of gold, Kay Koss, Dorothy Larrabee and Bernice Musklit.
Trip Chairperson Lee Koss said a bus trip is planned for Oct. 22. The bus will leave from Post 31 at 9 a.m. for Indian Head Resort, Lincoln, N.H. Cost is $50, which includes bus fare, a buffet lunch, music by the Alpiner Oom-Pah Band and free personal photographs. Anyone interested may see Koss at Robin Dow meetings or phone him at 783-6396. One does not have to be a member of Robin Dow Seniors in order to attend.
Rotary speaker
LEWISTON – Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, Aug. 11, to receive an update on the Philippines Library Project.
Member Gary Kennedy, who spear-headed and coordinated the project over the past few years, will discuss the project at the meeting at the Ramada Inn. He has been living in the Philippines to supervise its progress and completion.
Anyone wishing to hear the speaker or to learn more about Rotary is welcome. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person.
Bridge play
NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club played a club championship on Aug. 7 at the Masonic Building, where a four-table Howell game was played. Finishing first in flight A were Roger Briggs and Les Buzzell; second, Darcy Page and Bunnie Banks; third, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer.
Finishing first in flight B were Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer with Barbara and Paul Beegel second. Another game will be held at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the Masonic Building, intersection of routes 100 and 231. All bridge players welcome; all new comers get a free play.
