RUMFORD – Two people were injured Sunday morning after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car at the intersection of Routes 2 and 232 in Rumford, police said.
Motorcycle driver David McKenna, 54, of Rumford, and passenger Penni Mann, 39, of Rumford, were taken by Med-Care Ambulance to Rumford Hospital, said Detective Lt. Stacy Carter on Monday afternoon.
Med-Care Director Dean Milligan said late Monday afternoon that McKenna was later taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with non-life-threatening injuries. A CMMC nursing supervisor said late Monday night that McKenna was in good condition.
Carter said he believed that Mann was treated and released.
Carter said the wreck occurred when Johnene Gannon, 55, of Byron, who was driving west on Route 2, turned onto Route 232 at Rumford Point.
“She said she didn’t see the bike,” Carter said.
McKenna’s eastbound 2001 Honda struck the car, and both McKenna and Mann, who were not wearing helmets, came off the cycle, Carter said.
Gannon was not injured, but her car sustained $1,000 in damage. The motorcycle sustained $5,000 in damage and was totaled, Carter added.
