WOODSTOCK – At a special board meeting Monday, selectmen set the tax rate at $11.10 per $1,000 of valuation, an increase of 60 cents.

Town Manager Vern Maxfield said the rate is based on the following:

• Total valuation, after $2,106,000 in Homestead Exemptions, adds up to a base of $120,013,985.

• Oxford County tax totals $73,154, which is an increase $7,032.

• Municipal appropriations total $846,875.

• School assessment is $763,438.

• The net to be raised is $1,322,922.

The new rate means an overlay of $9,233, which selectmen thought would be adequate to cover unforeseen expenses and not force the town to use surplus over the rest of the year.

In other business, the board voted to change the date of its next meeting from Aug. 16 to Aug. 23 because Maxfield has another commitment Aug. 16. The meeting is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 p.m.
