ALBANY – The Albany Improvement Association will hold its annual yard sale at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Albany Town Hall, intersection of Vernon Street and Hunts Corner Road.
Annual picnic
CASCO – The annual picnic of the Raymond-Casco Historical Society will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, on Hacker’s Hill, Quaker Ridge Road. Members and guests are invited to bring a potluck dish, a plate and utensils.
Coming events
PARIS – The Ring McKeen Post 151, American Legion, and Auxiliary will put on the County Council cookout at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Veterans Home, High Street, South Paris.
West Paris Grange 298 will hold the annual cookout at the home of Grange Master Earl Andrews, 417 Allen Hill, Oxford, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18.
West Paris Grange 298 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at the hall. There will be refreshments after. West Paris Grange 298 and Franklin Grange 124 will hold a joint installation at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Franklin Grange, Mill Street, Bryant Pond, with a 6 p.m. supper.
West Paris Historical Society reports the combination bake sale and hall and yard sale was a success and, because of many late donations and leftover items, a markdown and bag sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 13. For more information, contact Betty Jones at 674-2507.
Society speaker
NORWAY – The Norway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the society house, 471 Main St., when Ben Conant will discuss “Two Big Towns Go at It.”
Since their earliest days, the communities of Norway and Paris have had a series of encounters not unlike those of many feisty siblings. The battle over the location of the county seat and the Norway-Paris “border war” are two of the skirmishes in Oxford County’s early years. FMI: call 743-0505.
Concert set
BERLIN, N.H. – Original members of the 1960s Highwaymen have rejoined and will appear in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Community Arts Center, 155 Emery St. Dave Rowe, who appeared at the Arts Center with Turkey Hollow last winter, will open for the Highwaymen.
Advance tickets are $15, available at Gills Flower Shop, Berlin, and Wonderland Book Store, Gorham. Tickets at the door will be $18. For more information, call the center office at 603-752-1028.
Yard sale
OXFORD – The annual Oxford Advent Christian Church yard sale will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2 and 3, in front of the church on Route 26. The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
All proceeds will be used for scholarships to the Advent Christian Campground youth camps.
