NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) – David Murphy, Jared Sandberg and Alberto Concepcion paced a 17-hit attack with three hits each Wednesday night as the Portland Sea Dogs completed a four-game sweep with a 7-6 win over the New Britain Rock Cats in the Eastern League.

Portland (63-53) banged out 17 hits in the game and totaled 50 in the series. New Britain (53-65) has now lost six straight.

Portland scored five times off Jim Abbott (5-3) in the first inning with Sandberg, Concepcion and Raul Nieves rapping two-out singles.

Hanley Ramirez had RBI singles in the fourth and eighth innings. Denney Tomori (2-2) allowed five runs on nine hits in seven innings. Jim Mann earned his eighth save.

Kyle Phillips hit a two-run homer for New Britain, his first in Double-A. Alex Romero tied a franchise record by reaching base in his 32nd straight game.

He has a 17-game hitting streak.
