CLEVELAND (AP) – Jorge Cantu hit two of Tampa Bay’s season-high five homers, and Seth McClung overcame a long rain delay to pitch shutout ball into the sixth inning as the Devil Rays defeated the Cleveland Indians 8-2 Saturday night.

The Devil Rays’ second straight win gave them their first series victory in Cleveland. Tampa Bay had gone 0-8-1 in nine previous trips to Jacobs Field, winning only seven of 28 games before this season.

Cleveland right fielder Casey Blake left in the fifth with a bruised right shoulder after being hit by a pitch from McClung. The Indians lost for the third time in 12 games and fell 41/2 games back in the AL wild-card race.

Cantu hit a two-run homer in the third as Tampa Bay took a 4-0 lead against Scott Elarton (7-6). Cantu hit a solo shot, his 18th of the season, off Jeremy Guthrie in the seventh. It was Cantu’s third homer in two nights and third career multihomer game, all this season.

Julio Lugo, Aubrey Huff and Jonny Gomes each hit a solo homer – with Gomes’ shot in the seventh traveling an estimated 461 feet to left-center, two rows of seats from becoming just the third ball to hit the scoreboard at Jacobs Field.

McClung (3-7) won for the third time in five starts since July 22. The right-hander, who missed most of the 2003 season and all of 2004 after having Tommy John surgery, gave up one run and four hits over 5 1-3 innings. He bounced back from a poor outing Sunday in which he gave up six runs in 2 2-3 innings in a 10-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Lugo led off the game by hitting an 0-1 pitch over the wall for his fourth homer. Two outs later, Aubrey Huff hit his 17th of the season to right field.

Elarton allowed four runs and five hits over three innings, falling to 1-3 in six starts since July 17. He did not come back after an 80-minute rain delay in the bottom of the third.

Guthrie, called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Buffalo, gave up one run in the fourth, making it 5-0.

Cleveland got to 5-1 in the sixth. Coco Crisp walked and scored on a double by Travis Hafner. McClung then walked Victor Martinez and was replaced by Chad Orvella, who got two quick outs to end the threat.

Cantu and Gomes then homered to make it 7-1.

Grady Sizemore hit his 14th home run in the ninth for Cleveland’s second run.
