PORTLAND (AP) – Brian Mazone cruised through eight scoreless innings and reliever Brian Wilson pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to complete the team shutout as the Norwich Navigators defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 2-0 Sunday.

The Navigators (59-62) tallied two unearned runs in the first. After Carlos Valderrama led off the inning with a single, Kevin Frandsen reached on an error and Dan Ortmeier drew a walk to load the bases.

Randy Walter’s sacrifice fly plated Valderrama with the first run and Eliezer Alfonzo’s RBI groundout scored Frandsen to make it 2-0.

Portland (64-56) batters struggled all afternoon, collecting only three hits in the game.

Mazone (8-8) struck out six, walked one and dominated batters throughout his eight innings. Wilson notched his eighth save.

Portland starter Kason Gabbard (8-10) took the loss.
