Lobster lunch

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its annual lobster salad luncheon for life members at noon Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. Special guests will be Norma F. Crabtree, worthy grand matron, and John H. Coombs, worthy grand patron. A short program will be presented after lunch.

Old Schoolhouse opens to public

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society has announced that the Old Schoolhouse will be open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays until Sept. 8. The schoolhouse is located at 1229 Maine St. next to the Town Office.

The Poland Historical Society works to preserve and present Poland’s past for residents and visitors. Members of the society will be available to answer questions and give tours.

Bridge play

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met Aug. 14 at the Masonic Hall where a three-table Howell movement was held. Flight A winners were: first, Janice Wolfe and Roger Briggs; second, Carlene and Bill Hewett; Flight B: first, Audrey Burns and Linda Leotsakos; second, Betty and Doug Sise.

Another game will be held at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Masonic Hall, intersection of Routes 100 and 231. All bridge players are welcome, and a partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
