NORWAY – The Norway Memorial Library glass case has a display of items from the Oxford County Fair Agricultural Society Museum during August.

The public is welcome to view the exhibit of farm and household items from the museum’s collection during library open hours. The display was created by Gretchen Neidlinger who, along with her husband, Bill, is a curator for the museum.

The exhibit will introduce people to the museum, which can be visited during the Oxford County Fair Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 14 to 17. Visitors can see a variety of farm machines from local farms and see photos of farms and farm life.

The farm kitchen features pie-baking equipment and other cooking implements. There is a real Maine outhouse in the museum as well as an ice house.

During fair days it becomes a living building with hand knitters, wood carvers, chair canning, butter churning and other crafts from the past.

There will be a video area this year that will show ice-cutting, logging techniques and life on a farm for a child. Education Day will be highlighted with children’s activities and sharings.
