BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Bruins re-signed center Travis Green on Wednesday to a two-year contract.

The 34-year-old Green had 11 goals and five assists in 64 games during the 2003-04 season after being obtained from Toronto on Oct. 3, 2003, for a sixth-round draft pick in 2004.

He originally was taken by the New York Islanders with the 23rd pick of the 1989 draft and was in their organization for seven seasons before being traded to Anaheim on Feb. 6, 1998.

“Travis was a very reliable player for us in our last season and we’re happy to have him back,” Bruins general manager Mike O’Connell said. “He’s a real character player and adds a lot of leadership to our dressing room.”

In 857 NHL games, Green has 182 goals and 249 assists. He has scored at least 10 goals in each of the last nine seasons and has scored at least 20 three times.
