PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Kelly Determan scored a goal and an assist to lead Providence to a 2-0 victory over Maine.
Ashely Fedyshyn was solid in goal for the Friars, recording her second career shutout.
Kelley Pettersen got things started for Providence at the 7:48 mark in the first half. Pettersen took advantage of a loose ball in front of the Maine net and snuck it past Black Bears goalie Tanya Adorno. Less then six minutes later, Determan beat Adorno for the second Providence goal.
Maine, picked by the America East coaches to finish second, falls to 1-1.
