NORWAY – The Hillsmen Barbershop Chorus has announced two new co-directors, Pat Fleck and Wendi Porter.

Fleck is director of the Oxford Hills Mollyockett Sweet Adeline Barbershop Chorus, serving since 1998. Since 1986 Fleck has sung in barbershop choruses and quartets along the East Coast. She is a certified director and has attended many workshops and music schools provided by Sweet Adelines, teaching proper vocal production and the challenging art of barbershop singing.

Porter has a bachelor of music education degree from the University of Southern Maine. She has been singing in barbershop since 1992. She was a member and director of the Oxford Hills Mollyockett Sweet Adeline Chorus from 1992 to 1998.

Porter is also a certified director in Sweet Adelines and has taken numerous vocal training courses. She was a member and has twice sung with Royal River Sweet Adeline Chorus of Yarmouth, when they earned the first place title as world champions in mid-size choruses in 2000 and 2002.

Porter was the choir director of the Casco Village Church for five years.

The Hillsmen meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays in the Sienna House next to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. The parking lot is off Beal Street in the back of the church.

The group is starting from the beginning, learning to sing better and expanding the repertoire to more than traditional barbershop music. There is no minimum age requirement, so boys who would like to sing are welcome. Anyone who needs a ride or more information should phone Dr. Tere K. Porter, OD, at home on nights or weekends at 743-0656.
