MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library recently sponsored a wild things end of summer reading party for children ages 2 to 14 with about 50 attending.
Some of the children came in costume and were treated to a puppet show performed by Michelle Boucher-Ladd and her son, Gabriel. An interactive “Where the Wild Things Are” skit was led by Jordyn Turner and was performed with the children taking par. Refreshments were served.
Summer reading certificates were awarded to all who participated and special awards were given to the top readers in each of three age groups.
Top reading awards were given to the following: ages 2 to 5, first place Gabriel Ladd, second Montana Averill, third Jacob True.
Ages 6 to 10, first, Rachel Averill, second Chad Berry and Esther Farrar (tie), third Hunter Merrill.
Ages 11 to 14: first Heidi Penley, second Cara Wilkins, third Kelcie Virgin.
A total of 769 hours of reading time was accumulated by the 102 participants.
