LEWISTON – Joseph Paradis, long active in veterans circles and a trustee in American Legion Post 22, has been named chairman of the membership drive from Sept. 1 to 16.

Dues are $23 a year and members will receive information on veterans’ programs and benefits along with toll-free numbers to veterans’ services. Members will also receive grave markers.

Paradis invites members to attend a regular meeting of the post at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at 190 Bates St., the former legion home. Any veterans who want to transfer to Post 22 may do so at the meeting.

Serving on the membership committee will be first vice commander, Doris Hamel; trustee, Don Dube; and adjutant, Jerry DerBoghosian. Lunch will be served and door prize awarded.

Paradis is a member of Post 22; a life member of Franco American War Veterans Post 31; Amvets Post, New Gloucester; Veterans of Foreign Wars; life member of Disabled American Veterans, Maine Chapter; life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Thomas J. Field Chapter 2699; and American Ex-Prisoners of War, National Chapter.
